Twenty-five dump trucks delivered clean fill dirt to raise the interior grade to finished floor elevation. Fill must be compacted in lifts (layers) to prevent settling. This brings the slab area to proper height above the exterior grade for drainage.

Pro tip: Never skip compaction testing on fill dirt. Settlement under a slab causes cracks that are expensive and difficult to repair. Require a compaction report from a geotechnical engineer before your slab pour.
